I was looking for a new book. Tried a Patterson and a "Prey" book, but I couldn't get into them. Then a friend passed on a copy of Hot Bits..Cold Steel. It caught me immediately. Totally a cop procedural with two different but related crime sprees going on. Educational and timely as there was a news article about one of the crime types while I was reading. It's real!! Good character development and excellent storyline. I found this to be more interesting than most books I have read recently! Clearly K.C. Knows what he's talking about with his stories. Kind of a been there, done that!! Truly, I had trouble putting it down! Now I'm buying for friends to turn them on to this great new author!u

NANCY B. writes:

K.C. has improved on his last book. I enjoyed the first book so really looked forward to a chance to sit down and read this story when it came out. K.C. has done a great job laying out this story in a way that is interesting and engaging. He has developed the characters more and you can't help but think you would like them. I was rooting for Kevin and Will all the way through! If you know a little something about investigations and police work, you won't have some of the eye-rolling moments since it is written by someone who clearly understands what the work is really like.  I highly recommend this book!

From Amazon Kindle customer:

After reading K.C Reinstadler's first book, I looked forward to reading the second. It far exceeded my expectations and turned into a "page-turner." The books started a little rough, but then settled into a great story with an exciting plot. This is my favorite of the two books and one I would recommend for anyone who is not a little shy of what actually happens in the world of Cops and robbers. It is extremely well done. I generally read these type books and really enjoyed the writing style employed by K.C. Reinstadler.

By Rueben O. from Guam:

My favorite author is Stuart Woods. His crime dramas are Bestsellers. Rhino's books flow the same. I read Rhino's first book, Slice of Greed and loved it. Couldn't wait to read his second book, Hot Bits and Cold Steel. Once I started the suspense and drama keep me reading. Great story line that keeps you on an emotional roller coaster and turning pages. I could say so much more but the best thing I can say is just read the book. You'll love it!!

JFS writes:

My favorite authors, Connelly, Grisham, Patterson, Reinstadler, Baldacci and Sandford to name a few not necessarily in the order listed. Hot Bits and Cold Steel is hard to put down as soon as the first page is tuned. K. C. Reinstadler may be a newcomer to the field of crime/drama writing but I am sure he is insured a great future with his writing persona. Jerry Bruckheimer should pick up a copy of Hot Bits and Cold Steel as it would make a great mini series for TV!

From JDZ:

K.C. has done it again. A really great book. His years of experience in law enforcement come through loud and clear. He makes you feel you are with the deputies during their arrests or surveilances. The insight he provides into the real workings of law enforcement as well as how the bad guys think and work is fascinating. And the way he mixes in the personal issues of the deputies and the inner politics of the department helps the reader realize that cops are people too. We couldn't put it down.

Kathi writes:

I've been there and done it and am not normally impressed by this kind of book. I can totally relate to both the characters and the office politics. Hey, the good guys win in the end, but the plot keeps you wanting to turn the page. It's nice to read a proper type novel and not a predictable fairy tale ending crime drama. Still don't take my word for it, give it a go. You won't be disappointed!

Norman says:

Well worth the read!

I loved this book. I normally don't like mysteries, but a friend encouraged me to read it. It was a quick read, a good thing since I couldn't put it down. It is a cleverly woven tale and laced with humor and some suspense. I loved that it was written from a cop's standpoint, showing how much drama, the many dead ends as well as the political problems can be involved in solving a case. My only question I have is, when can I read another one?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. It had moments that made me laugh out loud, and others that brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed knowing more about how the criminal justice system works as well. A good read.

This book grabs you at the first page and does not let go until the party at the end. A quick and nail biting read with realistic insight into the workings of a cops environment and mind set.

My wife and I have both finished reading your book and we really enjoyed it.  Lots of familiar places and procedures and it really felt "local".  We liked the way you sprinkled all the different crimes throughout the book, then pulled them altogether at the end and everybody got what they deserved.  Doesn’t always work that way but it’s nice when a plan comes together.
Hope you’ll let us know when your next book comes out.

A police procedural that holds your interest by an author who has obviously been there. I read it in an afternoon because I couldn't put it down. A very good first outing by the author who understands the political ins and outs of "Sheriff'n".

I seldom read a book due to lose of interest or have to go back and reread a sentence or entire paragraph as they put me to sleep. No so with Slice of Greed. When I was finished with a section, chapter or page, I could not wait to get back to what was coming next. Being a former law enforcement officer from Nevada and retired from law enforcement in California, I can identify with many aspects in Kevin's first novel. I cannot wait for the next and hopefully many more novels to come.

Wow!!! Blown away by the great storytelling Ken Reinstadler has displayed in his novel. I was captivated from the first page, and continued to read with gusto to find out "who did it." The characters were easy to follow, and you were taken from scene to scene with easy comprehension. I will definitely read any future books Mr. Reinstadler has to offer. Keep up the good work. A Must Read!

Very enjoyable book. Lots of different crimes by different people at different times sprinkled throughout the book all to ultimately advance the primary storyline. Then the author pulled them altogether at the end and everybody got what they deserved. Written from the law enforcement detective's point of view with plenty of "cop" humor and "politics" thrown in, it's a good read.

From the opening paragraph to the last sentence the premier work of K.C Reinstadler has realism, suspense, and real-life characters with authentic cop humor and personalities. Great plot twists that keep the book in your hands since you do not want to put it down. The book is an easy read and flows at a fast pace. I am a career cop and this book a testament to first time author K.C. Reinstadler, who has obviously been there and done that in real life. Can’t wait for his next one.

Quick read because I couldn't put it down! Th characters were well "fleshed out." The book was written from the prospective of a cop who's been there, done that. Good first book from K. C. Reinstadler - he's definitely got a future with Detective Rhinehardt stories. I'm definitely looking forward to number 2!

Giving this book a 5-star rating was a no-brainer. I couldn't put the book down once i started to read it. This tale of crime was spun the way only a seasoned investigator could do. What a great crime story to boot. The police humor, the office politics and the investigative "tricks of the trade" just add to the realism of the process!! Great job Rhino!!. Looking forward to your next book buddy.
